Ecosulis specialise in technology-empowered nature restoration for people, planet and progress. We have significant experience working at the intersection of nature recovery, technology and finance and aim to make rewilding commercially viable and accelerate the vision of a recoverable earth within our lifetime.

Our innovation team has developed and tested a suite of new products and services that enable the emergence of markets for nature recovery and next generation approaches to spatial nature planning and assessment. These integrate advances in information engineering, data science and blockchain and draw on data feeds from remote sensing, internet of things, and digital citizen science.

A new, exciting, and challenging position has now been created and we are looking for an energetic, proactive, and commercially minded individual to join our team to take these products and services to market and lead their future development.

Whilst the successful candidate will be working within an established structure, they will need to be self-motivated and have the drive, energy, and flexibility to succeed within a dynamic and evolving environment. The candidate will be very technically minded and ideally have had some experience in a start-up or early-stage business environment. They will be inspired by the idea of helping nature recover on a global scale and will share our aspiration of bringing about positive transformational change.

Primary purpose: Reporting to our CEO and working alongside our nature recovery department, the successful candidate will lead our innovation team and be responsible for formalising and packaging our innovations and taking them to market as a suite of products and services. To achieve this, you will need to be hands- on and able to effectively manage and inspire a small but growing team of technically gifted interns.

Duties and accountabilities will include:

  • The ongoing consolidation and development of a suite of products and services with input and guidance from the Senior Leadership Team

  • Lead the technology and product vision and strategy and manage their implementation as agreed

  • Attend senior leadership team meetings and provide progress reports and updates on agreed performance criteria

  • Lead and manage the innovation team, including making business critical technological decisions, developing in-house staff capacity, and recruiting or outsourcing additional skills and capacity as required

  • Ensure that project and product pipelines are developed and commercialised to deliver commercially viable offerings in the field of natural capital credits / tokens, spatial nature planning and rewilding enterprise

  • Represent the company and its vision externally and develop and maintain positive relationships with development partners, clients, and investors

  • Secure grants and other sources of investment funding to support our R&D work

  • Develop and maintain cutting edge insight and understandings of developments in ESG, emerging markets for natural capital credits and relevant policy relating to ecosystem recovery and land economies

Education, skills, and experience required:

Essential:

  • Leadership and strategy development in a technical environment with a proven track record of achievement in the launching of new products or services

  • Relevant higher-level qualifications

  • Proven experience as a CTO or similar leadership role

  • Experience in a start-up or innovation team environment would be an advantage

  • Proven technical background with a strong understanding of emerging technologies such as IoT, spatial mapping, remote sensing, UAVs, blockchain, AI or similar

  • Knowledge of the technical needs and build challenges associated with various components of a technology system and product

  • Strong commercial acumen with a working knowledge of budgets and business-planning

  • Ability to undertake system and technological analyses and research

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to analyse complex issues quickly and express thoughts logically and succinctly
 

Desirable:

  • MBA or demonstrable experience in a range of related business skills

  • Track record of building, scaling, training, and coaching high functioning development teams

  • Excellent written and oral communication, as well as presentation skills and the ability to express thoughts logically and succinctly
  • Creative problem-solving aptitude

  • Able to commute into our Harwell office at least once a week

Desirable:

  • MBA or demonstrable experience in a range of related business skills

  • Track record of building, scaling, training, and coaching high functioning development teams

  • Excellent written and oral communication, as well as presentation skills and the ability to express thoughts logically and succinctly

  • Experience of building a business case for products in new and emerging markets

  • Experience of attracting funding, grants, partnerships, strategic projects for investment

  • Enthusiasm for rewilding and experience of the nature conservation, policy and/or investment world

Salary: Dependent on experience

Location: Home based – travel will be required when requested

Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle is required.
