About the role

Here at Ecosulis we are seeking an experienced Ecologist to provide ecological support on a variety of projects across the country. The size of these projects varies substantially, so a well-rounded skillset is essential. The ideal candidate will have a background in ecological consulting, including knowledge of the planning procedure, technical ability with regards to protected species surveys and report writing, and experience in project management.  

Ecosulis take pride in going beyond the industry standard and aspire to develop solutions to exceed existing biodiversity net gain targets. The successful applicant will therefore be innovative and have an eye for detail to incorporate core business strategy within all elements of deliverables. This will involve regular communication with other departments to ensure that our outputs meet or exceed the expectations of our clients.

About you

The ideal candidate will have a background in ecological consultancy and a passion for the natural, possessing a broad knowledge of wildlife and legislation policies. Ideally you will be experienced in GIS for large scale projects, with excellent team co-ordination skills. You will also be an expert communicator, taking initiative to come up with creative solutions. It is important you have a strong client focus.

What qualifications & experience will you require?

It is essential that you have: 

  •  A degree in ecology or a related subject 
  • A CSCS Card 
  • CIEEM Membership 
  • At least 1 protected species licence 
  • Full UK driving licence & use of own vehicle 
  • Proficiency in protected species and habitat surveys 


It would be great if you also had experience of: 

  • Ecological tendering 
  • Production of EcIA and HRA reports 
  • Mitigation licence compilation 
  • Competent use of GIS mapping  
  • Delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain and use of the UK habitat classification system

  • Location: The role will be home based with travel to site, client meetings and management meetings as needed.
